Stem Cell

Stem cells are unique in nature as they are not necessarily the same type of cell such as blood cells or nerve cells. They are able to change or become a different cell based on then need of the body. They are cells known to help develop embryos and repair damaged organisms. Yet, they are the most controversial cell since medical research has used them for various experiments and projects the public has varying viewpoints about. Thanks to such advancements funds continue to be raised to go toward completing more experiments that could further lead to more discoveries.

Stem cells are a group of cells that can have multiple functions. They are known to help develop different organs throughout the body and help develop bones and muscles. They help the body heal when injury occurs. Researchers have a good idea of what these cells are capable of doing, yet there is a level of lack of understanding when determining their origin. Since they are capable of helping the body produce essential elements, researchers believe they are able to do much more than beyond repairing bodily tissue. Researchers have learned there are three types of stem cells that play an important part in how humans develop. The three types of cells include embryonic stem cells, cord blood stem cells, and somatic stem cells. These options are fairly familiar to the public. The embryonic cells come from embryos. Cord blood stem cells derive from umbilical cords. This source offers a great amount of stem cells due to the fetal element. Somatic stem cells come from adults from various parts of the body. Researchers are still trying to understand somatic stem cells and how they develop in adults.

Stem cells are distinctive in nature because they have ingredients not found in common types of cells. They are often not designated to perform a certain function for the body. These cells are also able to reproduce themselves or replicate. This element has researchers very interested in what they could do for humans in the future. Even though may people may not agree with stem cell research, researchers continue to have reasons behind why they think this will be a useful option. Experts believe they may be able to manipulate their growth patterns to produce new organs people can have when dealing with disease and illness. Others think this is not a smart idea to tamper with human nature.
